Professor description:

Phonetics is a super interesting field of linguistics that studies the properties of sounds of the languages around the world. It is useful for many areas, including education, speech therapy (ex. treating clinical speech disorders), speech recognition (ex. computational devices that recognize what we say, like SIRI), speech synthesis (ex. turning text into speech, like Google), forensic investigation (FBI), dialect coaching, and more! Thank you for enrolling in this course. I look forward to being your guide to the wonderful world of FUN-etics!
