Practical experience in biology in cooperation with the private industry or government, to be jointly supervised by the academic department, the CO-OP program coordinator, and an official from the cooperating organization.
Through an off-campus, practical, supervised experience in an area of biology, the student shall:
- complement and strengthen, with practical experiences, the theoretical knowledge gained in courses of his/her curriculum
- enhance his/her technical competency through the use of advanced or industrial-grade instrumentation, and all corresponding protocols
- strengthen his/her capacity for independent work
- strengthen his/her interpersonal and teamwork skills
- strengthen his/her written and oral communications skills
- develop a more realistic vision of the professional world / job market, which in turn shall help the student further define his/her future academic and professional goals
