This course introduces fundamental concepts to perform property condition assessment (PCA) and building valuation in St. Lucia. It aims to provide an in-depth look at a property to survey the current condition of the building or asset to reveal any short-term or long-term repair and replacement needs for pre- and post-disaster events. In order to provide the course audience with relevant natural hazards in St. Lucia, an overview is presented focusing on the island's earthquake, wind, and flooding hazards. In addition, a brief overview is presented of the Building Level of Services, Building Valuation, Building Assessment, and Building Assessment Metrics. The main goal of the course is to develop local expertise to conduct PCA to the local building stock and develop and implement a Facility Condition Index (FCI) and Asset Priority Index (API) to assist and prepare the Government for natural hazards in the island.
