This is a course of theory and laboratory practice, where basic procedures of intervention in physical therapy or physiotherapy that are utilized in the clinical setting are taught in order to promote and restore the health and the well-being of the patient/client. Infection control measurement techniques and procedures of wound healing, ulcers managements are taught along with bandaging application to the extremities and head and the application of external compression devices. The study of medical terminology and the development of skills to measure and document the patient/client vital signs are included. In addition, the development of skills to prepare the treatment area, positioning and mobilization in bed of the patient/clients applying basic principles of correct body mechanics, security and guarding measurements. Basic first aid principles are taught including obtaining the certification for the application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.
